It's A Good Thing I'm On A Break...

...because I think I have gone crazy. A few times. And been crazy busy. But in a nutshell, my wedding thoughts have done a complete 360.

Maybe it's because of the change in the weather.
Maybe it's because I've done wayy too much research for one kind of wedding.
Maybe it's because my mom's insistence of contemplating a Western NY wedding has gotten into my head.

Whatever it was, now I'm thinking...

Western NY winter wedding.

In January.

At the Timberlodge Banquet Center. (My mom wanted me to look up Western NY venues...so I had my favorite already picked out.)

It's A Good Thing I'm On A Break...
Some explanation of the madness:

If the whole Boldt Castle thing doesn't work out and I "have" to do a local wedding, I would want to do it Buffalo-style, all out wintery, snowy goodness! The bf and I love winter so it would work out great for us!

So that means white/silver/crystal/light blue color scheme. (with some pale purple of course!)

That means hot cocoa, mulled cider, and comfort food.

That means candles, fireplaces, and cuddling under warm blankets.

THAT MEANS SNOWFLAKES!!! (I love snowflakes! XD)

"Wait a second," I thought, "I kinda like this"

:)

So, when I have more time, I might be posting winter wedding insanity for the holidays XD

The First Dance

On jezebel today there was a post about the the evolution of the viral video wedding dance and it got me thinking about our first dance. The boy is not a dancer, well, at least not without a few drinks in him. I, on the other hand, love, love, love, LOVE, LOVE to dance. He would like there to be no official first dance period. His compromise - have it be super short and everyone else joins in partly through the song. The idea of our friends and family watching us dance is not his idea of romantic fun. I partially agree. Watching a couple two-step their first dance is really boring after the first twenty seconds. It's even worse when you can tell the couple attended three dance lessons and are awkwardly trying to remember steps. Don't get me wrong, I think the first dance is a really special moment for the newlyweds, I just don't think everyone else needs to watch. But a tiny part of me still secretly wishes we could choreograph a ridiculously spectacular YouTube worthy dance routine that will become the next viral video craze.

Beach Engagement Photography Shoot in Oceanside, Ca

This beach engagement photography session in San Diego was a lot of fun. Kurra and Rich are a fun-loving couple with huge hearts. It wasn’t hard to capture the obvious love that they have for each other!

Their main request I got was for some good "black and white" engagement photos. So as the session progressed, I kept that in mind. I capture all photographs in color digitally. However, since I process them on the computer I am able to convert them later into black and white. In fact, I have found that this gives me the most control, because in Adobe Lightroom I can control the level of each color channel, thereby allowing me to easily make tonal adjustments to specific areas of the image.

It was a fun time at the Oceanside Pier. At one point I decided to capture some photos of them just walking along the beach, just some simple candid shots of them being themselves. After about 5 or so shots, I think Rich and I realized at the same time that he was holding Kurra's purse! He's a nice guy, and its just second nature to help Kurra in anyway he can. But as you can imagine, the photos might look sorta funny with a dude walking down the beach with a purse! Guys I think we are all guilty of this at some point, I know I am!!! ;)
