I'm Sarah and I want a champagne wedding for a beer wedding budget! However I feel that I couldn't name the blog "I Want A Champagne Wedding" without people expecting me to have a winery/champagne theme, which isn't want I want to accomplish here.
I was inspired to start this blog first and foremost by A $10000 Wedding, where her fun and addicting personality really kept me wanting to read the next post...so much so I spent most of that week reading the entire blog! After just reading the first few posts I thought "Woo hoo! I'm not crazy!!!" I was not the only non-engaged hopeful to poke around the internet, (when the bf isn't looking), to do some serious wedding research, lol.
Fortunately for normal life, and possibly unfortunate for wedding planning, my mother raised me to be a frugal little spender, so I'm determined that when I eventually do get married, I will not spend a fortune if I don't have to. It is just one day after all. The goal for this blog was originally $10k like my inspiration blog, but it only took one wedding budget spreadsheet to completely blow that budget out of the water! In fact I was having the worst trouble just keeping my budget below $18K! D:
So now, I have a challenge: Try to get the wedding budget lowered, at the very least, to a somewhat non-impressive (to me), $15K
Future challenge: Try to get that budget even lower, possibly to the $12K range
Also this blog is basically a channel for me, for now and hopefully for later when I do get engaged, *crosses fingers*, and for all my many wedding thoughts and ideas that have been bouncing around in my head :)

It was a long hike, in the snow, up hill both ways jk, but worth it. After lunch we started messing around in the snow and well 'ya know what they say... "boys will be boys!" We turned some dead wood into a toboggan / snowboard, and surfed it down this snowy hill! Here's a cool shot of the lucky guy, Landon! I actually got the honor to be in his wedding, and of course couldn't resist to taking a few shots at the wedding . More to come about that in my next post this week. And of course a snowball fight which lasted all the way down the mountain. Guys in the back hucking snow at the guys in the front. And guys in the front running ahead and hiding on the side of the trail until we showed up and were pelted with a surprise attack! Good times, good times! Here's a creative way of using an emergency poncho! The hike was actually a bit of a challenge, since the snow had been melting and refreezing at night. It was tough and instead of using the trail, we eventually had to rough it up the mountain blazing our own trail in Idyllwild. Alright, this is Ben, a professional poker player and a heck of an amateur snowboarder! We also went to college together, and are good friends. Here's a shot of me before really eating it! This really reminded me of riding my sector nine or even a surfboard, man I cant wait for surfing this summer! Hiking is fun but hanging out with some of your best friends is better! Back at the cabin I played some of the funnest pool ever, and half the games involved only two balls and no stick. I still don't know what the game is called but you can have as many people as you want and on your turn you slide the cue ball at the other trying to knock it in. Guess you had to be there!

This photographic adventure was tough, but well worth it, as evident from the awesome photo opportunities. The hike starting in Bishop, Ca took us uphill through Piute’s Pass and over a Glacier at 11,400 ft elevation. It was interesting to see what can live up there, and what doesn’t. For example, there were lots of mosquitoes and fish, but no bears. We caught golden trout, brooke trout, and rainbow trout. The trout that we ate for dinner one night were rainbow trout, yum!
I had a blast capturing images of this breath-taking landscape. The water was amazingly clear, and the taste of it was so pristine. I love photographing water, it allows for unlimited creativity with the reflections and movement of it in streams and waterfalls. I also like how slightly changing your angle of view or shutter speed can yield a completely different image. My favorite shots are usually from very low angles, involving me laying with my face on the ground or standing in a stream with the tripod getting a little wet.
I hauled all of my photo gear up there, including my Canon 50D, Tamron 17-55mm and 4 lb Manfrotto Tripod, as I intended to get some use out of them. As everyone else fished, I was looking for fine art images, and I think I captured a few. By the way, feel free to leave comments if you like any of them. Gear-wise everything went great, nothing broke and 2 batteries were plenty of Juice for five days in the backcountry. At the end of the trip I had used 8GB of memory.
On this trip I experimented with using the HDR (High Dynamic Range) technique, which allows the photographer to create images that display a tonal range of light that more closely mimics what the human eye can see. Getting these types of photos involves taking multiple exposures (usually three) and then combining them on the computer. I used a combination of Photoshop CS3 and Photomatix softwares. The multiple exposures help to capture more detail in the darks, lights and midtones.
Getting to experience this beautiful landscape was a very spiritual experience for me. If I had to choose a soundtrack for these photos I would use “Indescribable” by Chris Tomlin. Everything is so well designed out here, it is impossible for me to believe that this all happened by chance (macro evolution). As an engineer I know a little something about ‘DESIGN’, and this thing we call nature was definitely designed, and designed well. Thanks to God for showing us a small minutia of His infinite glory!

Title: Backpacking The Manzano Mountain Wilderness
The Manzano Mountain Wilderness, created by the Endangered American Wilderness Act of 1978, encompasses 36,970 acres on the Mountainair Ranger District of the Cibola National Forest in central New Mexico. The word "manzano" is Spanish for "apple." In the 1700s, explorers visiting a small village on the eastern edge of the mountains noted apple trees growing in the village. The trees appeared to be very old but no one knew or how or when they arrived; apple trees are not native to this country. The village and the mountain both became known as Manzano.
Elevations in the Wilderness range from 6,000 feet in the foothills to 10,098 feet on Manzano Peak. A rule of thumb to remember about climate and elevation is that every 1,000 feet gained in elevation is the same as traveling 400 miles north. You start out in the desert of central New Mexico and end up in the spruce-fir forests of lower Canada. (...so to speak.)

Title: Ion Square
Bloc Party best song
Lyrics Ion square, perspex swings I breathe out, you breathe in Permanent midnight Our love, our love How we've come to depend On each other to the end The space between us has disappeared You finish my, you finish my words for me
I remember how it began So many great days in a row Barefoot on Bishopsgate Trying to find Blake's grave If we could stay like this in a silver foil Trapped in amber for a life Permanent midnight Our love, our love
I carry your heart here with me I carry it in my heart I carry your heart with me I carry it in my heart
Who said unbroken happiness Is a bore, is a bore? Who said it, my love? I don't mind it Anymore, anymore And I reach out a hand over your side of the bed Pull that blanket over your shoulders exposed to the night And the hunger of those early years will never return But I don't mind, I don't mind 'Cause I love my mind when I'm fucking you Slowed down to a crawl Years of crime and the bread line Have not at all dimmed your shine So let's stay in, let the sofa be our car Let's stay in, let the TV be our stars I found my dancing shoes but they don't fit All the bright lights do is bore me They bore me
I carry your heart here with me I carry it in my heart I carry your heart with me I carry it in my heart
Typically I love the rain in SoCal, it is so rare its almost a treat, however, it makes a family photography session a little difficult. The kids want to get wet, the parents dont, and my camera is naked and screaming Aghhhh, IM GETTING WET!!!" Usually I would just reschedule, but that isnt possible if family has come from out of town.
Besides the rain is was a great family photography session. The Mission Inn was beautifully decorated in Christmas decor, including a giant Christmas tree, giant nut crackers and toy soldiers. Jens family were great. We had met before at Jens wedding, which I photographed, so it was good to see them again. Instead of 110 F degree heat like last time, it was cold rainy weather! Anyways, enough with the intro, here are some of my favorite images from the day
