Time for Introductions and Explanations

Hi there! Welcome to my wedding blog!

I'm Sarah and I want a champagne wedding for a beer wedding budget! However I feel that I couldn't name the blog "I Want A Champagne Wedding" without people expecting me to have a winery/champagne theme, which isn't want I want to accomplish here.

I was inspired to start this blog first and foremost by A $10000 Wedding, where her fun and addicting personality really kept me wanting to read the next post...so much so I spent most of that week reading the entire blog! After just reading the first few posts I thought "Woo hoo! I'm not crazy!!!" I was not the only non-engaged hopeful to poke around the internet, (when the bf isn't looking), to do some serious wedding research, lol.

Fortunately for normal life, and possibly unfortunate for wedding planning, my mother raised me to be a frugal little spender, so I'm determined that when I eventually do get married, I will not spend a fortune if I don't have to. It is just one day after all. The goal for this blog was originally $10k like my inspiration blog, but it only took one wedding budget spreadsheet to completely blow that budget out of the water! In fact I was having the worst trouble just keeping my budget below $18K! D:

So now, I have a challenge: Try to get the wedding budget lowered, at the very least, to a somewhat non-impressive (to me), $15K

Future challenge: Try to get that budget even lower, possibly to the $12K range

Also this blog is basically a channel for me, for now and hopefully for later when I do get engaged, *crosses fingers*, and for all my many wedding thoughts and ideas that have been bouncing around in my head :)

Enjoy!

*Screeeeech!!!* A Pause...

As I was reading more and more posts from Wedding Bee, I stumbled upon a bride who gathered inspiration from a blog called 2000 Dollar Budget Wedding. I remember finding this a while back while looking for good wedding budget ideas, but almost instantly brushed it off as being a little too thrifty for my tastes.

But I'd thought I give it another go. I looked at the budget breakdown and said to myself: "OMG. I have to see how this whole thing turned out!" (They actually did it...really tiny, tiny numbers for everything...) So I read a post about the goals and vision of their wedding planning. (Read it!!! The whole thing. Done? Okay then, read on.) And it has really gotten me thinking about the whole wedding thing in general.

They had 9 fundamental rules for their wedding:

"1. To bring family and friends together to reconnect and form new friendships.
2. The experience will not be overly-orchestrated. It's a celebration of our love, not a show.
3. We will fight consumerism by spending only $2,000 max. The Wedding Industrial Complex is conspiring to make us think we have to spend more money. But we want to make the event special with sincerity, not money.
4. It will be good for the environment.
5. It will be connected to nature.
6. We will have real time to spend with guests. We want to be able to spend quality time with our friends and family. We don’t want to follow the traditional pattern of a few wedding “events” where the bride and groom only have time for a “meet and greet”: rehearsal dinner, reception, brunch the following morning. We want more of a family & friends reunion.
7. We will make all the decisions ourselves so our wedding represents us.
8. We only want to be surrounded by our closest friends and family.
9. We want to be relaxed and fully present."

Maybe I am going a bit too into the cookie-cutter, expected wedding.

Maybe I don't need the castle.

Maybe my family who would prefer to not travel for my wedding are cheering right now. LOL XD

But seriously. I like the way this girl thinks. She wants to go to the core of what a wedding is all about, and not the truly unnecessary things that, today, goes along with it.

Now I'm not saying that I'm now all against the "WIC = Wedding Industrial Complex" and not going to get a professional photographer or go save-the-earth/green for the reception. But I do love how she is looking at the whole of the experience, and how it will truly make her, her husband and her guests feel. I want to be able to feel my wedding day, not just agonize over how someone didn't set up the centerpieces right...

It's something I think every bride should consider and something to think about.

Lhasa + Adam Garden Wedding

I cannot get enough of garden weddings.  This is an afternoon wedding in a farm in California. I love the bride's  simple below-the-knee dress, the invitation card, the orange + peach motif, the quilted tent, the peach flower boutonniere, the rustic table settings, and the beautiful green surroundings bathing in the soft sunlight.

Ronnie+Cami | Wedding Photography at Eagle Glen, Corona

por | | 0 comentarios

eagle glen wedding photographyAfter photographing their engagement and wedding, I am quite convinced that Cami and Ronnie have something very special. To call it true love would be an understatement! This was my first time being a wedding photographer in Corona and I will be honest it was not what I expected. The mountains and scenery are something else over at the Eagle Glen Golf Course. In fact, that is why Cami chose it. She wanted beautiful wedding photographs with bright colors.

All day Ronnie was so excited to see and marry Cami! Like the best man said in the speech, Ronnie constantly talks about how pretty Cami is inside and out. I had a great time at their wedding and what a beautiful day it was. The ceremony took place on some lush green grass under the blue sky. It was gorgeous. After the ceremony, the Eagle Glen coordinator Jared took us around on the golf carts for some photos. This was excellent service, that I dont see very often. I highly recommend Eagle Glen for having your wedding. Jared didn't hassle us to follow a timeline and was very open to what the couple wanted. So thanks to Jared and Eagle Glen for everything!

The DJ was hilarious and did an excellent job. My favorite part of the night was when he asked the fifth grader what he was doing in the crowd of single guys getting ready to catch the garter. He replied “I want to catch it”. “Catch what” replied the DJ. “Umm the thong” replied the little kid. And the whole place went crazy busting up laughing! I thought it was so funny. And of course the DJ explained what it actually was and that if he caught the garter he would have to drop out of school and get a job to support his new wife! The DJ also got everyone on the dance floor for a group photo, I love that. And I didn't even ask him too. I highly recommend Fred from Sound Garden Productions.

Everyone wants to be a wedding photographer these days, mostly because of the money, cool equipment, the fame. Just kidding about that last one! But seriously for me, the best part about it is the people and relationships you get from it! As I have said, your wedding photographs are priceless, so once you build that bond of trust with your clients you’ve become more than just friends. I can't have too many friends, if you need a wedding photographer in Corona or Temecula please give me a call.

Thanks to Kevin my second photographer for the day. He did an great job and also got some amazing shots for Cami and Ronnie.
